 QUEEN JADWIGA'S TRAIL

Monastery in Staniątki – Benedictines (Benedyktynki) Sisters

In Staniątki, close to the Niepołomice Forest, there is the oldest monastery of Benedyktynki Sisters in Poland. Monastery is founded by Klemens Klemensic (Klimontowic), the nobleman from the Gryfita House, in 1228. The church, built in early-gothic style, is now the oldest hall church in Poland. This monastery is the priceless object of the Christian and Polish culture. This is very probably that St. Jadwiga Queen very often visited the monastery and prayed in the church.

Richly interior of the church rivet attention with colors of frescos, made by A. Radwański. In southern chapel there is a beautiful painting of "Matka Boska Bolesna".
