MATHEMATICAL COMPETITION 2007/8
– GALA OF LAUREATES We take this opportunity to
say ‘Thank you’ to the main sponsor of the Mathematical Competition WOLFRAM
RESEARCH INC., USA,
especially to Dr. S. Wolfram for awards, three Mathematica
software packages and to Carol Cronin for cooperation and contribution to
making the Gala Event a great success.
Laureates of the Mathematical Competition received their prizes in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Jadwiga. How kind that Queen Jadwiga is always present at our celebration events. As our Patron and Saint she always supports us in all our undertakings. Director Jerzy Piskor welcomed all guests, laureates and students at the Gala Event. Thanks to great engagement and commitment of Director Piskor this Gala Event was a great success.
Gala of Laureates was attended by many distinguished guests. Among them, Mr Marek Błaszczak – Curator of Education, Ms. Ewa Dumkiewicz-Sprawka – Director, Department of Education, prof. Helena Słotwińska from KUL, Dr. Jerzy Mycka from Institute of Mathematics, UMCS, Ms. Maria Bełcik - inspector WOiW UM Lublin, Ms. Marta Borowiecka – specialist in Mathematics education and Directors, Teachers and students from many schools whose Patron is St. Jadwiga Queen as well as representatives from media.
Success of the mathematical competition was possible thanks to engagement of teachers of mathematics. In the picture mathematics teacher Ms. B. Lesiewicz during multimedia presentation of the Mathematica software and one of the students presenting mathematical problem.
Distinguished guests presented awards to the laureates of the mathematical competition. We hope that soon we will here about the laureates in terms of their contribution to mathematics. In the pictures, laureate of the second prize M. Golub and laureate of the third prize K. Lewandowska during receiving the awards. All laureates of mathematical competition were also awarded life membership in the Queen Jadwiga Foundation.
Laureates of the poetical competition received awards for the best poems about Queen Jadwiga. During the Gala Event laureates recited their poems. That was very emotional experience not only for laureates but also for guests, teachers, directors and students present at the Gala Event and those watching it by internet.
